Kindergarten is beginning to fall into a groove.  We begin each day with a lesson followed by an assignment and we conclude with a book, snack and “question of the day”.  The question will vary from very simple (What is the color of your bedroom walls?) to a more creative thought provoking question (What could you have done to help a friend today?). Shrugs and “I don’t know” are unacceptable answers.  We are stretching and growing our brains!  The children love the question of the day!

Journal writing is an important component to our curriculum.  The kindergarteners write twice a week during the morning work cycle.  Tuesdays are for copy writing a sentence or phrase relating to the sound of the week (For example, if the letter is “b” the sentence might be: The busy boys bounced basketballs and blew big bubbles before going bowling.). On Thursdays the children copy write a question and their answer.  We are working towards answering the questions in full sentences.

beginning sounds-t,m,s,b,a,h,r,g,c
