Welcome to Kindergarten!  We are going to have an excellent year learning to be leaders, tackling challenging works and securing social and emotional skills.  I am over the moon excited for your children! On this portal, I plan to list the lessons for the month.   This list is just FYI.  It is not intended for you to try to recreate the lesson.  I will also communicate any upcoming events, resources and Kindergarten photographs.
Our August lessons:
name recognition
name writing
lowercase and uppercase letters
penmanship
drawing self portraits
puppet making and storytelling
number order
one to one correspondence
geometric solids
following directions
days of the week
I took a few lines (oops, without permission so please do not copy!) from a post on Facebook.  It was written on the Her View From Home profile.
Kindergarten is the beginning of magic.

Five year olds are brand new to this big role and they step into it with wide eyes and open hearts.

They’re brimming with the kind of innocence and beauty only 5 year olds possess.

They ask questions about everything–big impossible things like why the sky changes colors or what makes people fall in love.

They believe in themselves without hesitation.  And they’ll hand you a dandelion like it’s a diamond.

They’re equal parts brave and tender.

It’s true they may falter a little as they walk towards independence, but they know you’re always waiting with a hug and a smile.

Kindergarten is the beginning of so many things, friendship, curiosity, confidence, growing up.

Kindergarten is like watching wonder take its very first steps.
Can you believe September is a week away?  In September, I will be assessing the kindergarteners to help plan for the upcoming curriculum.
I hope everyone enjoys the long holiday weekend!
